Use Headphone as a Mic

Filed under: My Life, Useful Tips, Royal Mumble - roshabraham @ 1:36 pm

My wife taught me a cool trick y’day.

Did you know that - A good head/ear phone in a Mic port equals a low quality microphone?
I didn’t believe it till I tried!

I am told that as far as physics goes, headphones and microphones are basically similar. There is a major difference though! One turns electrical signals into sound waves and the other turns sound into signals.

Don’t expect a too much and you’ll not be disappointed.

Cheers,

Happy B’Day

Filed under: My Life, Royal Mumble - roshabraham @ 10:23 pm

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!
May this year bring abundant blessings in our lives. I miss you a lot and I wish you were here with me!
Abba. Father. I thank you once more for blessing us both with another year of our lives.
Even though we are continents apart, help us both to celebrate our birthdays in good cheer.

Today I was listening to the hymn - ‘This is the Day that the Lord has made’ on my IPOD. It reminded me of the day we that we got married - the best day of my life.

God Bless us all.
Rosh

This is the day - Lyrics

This is the day (x2)
That the Lord has made (x2)
I will rejoice (2x)
And be glad in it (2x)
That this is the day that the Lord has made
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

This is the day (x2)
That the Lord has Made!!
This is the day (x2)
That the Lord has made (x2)
Let us rejoice (x2)
And be glad in it (x2)
This is the day that the Lord has made
Let us rejoice and be glad in it
This is the day (x2)
That the Lord has made

Come unto Me (x2)
O My people come (x2)
Sing praise to Him (x2)
I will make you one (x2)
Come unto Me, O My people come
Sing praise to Him, I will make you one
This is the day (x2)
That the Lord has made

Sing and be glad (x2)
For the Lord is good (x2)
He’s done great things (x2)
As He said He would (x2)
Sing and be glad, for the Lord is good
He’s done great things, as He said He would
This is the day (x2)
That the Lord has made

Filed under: My Life, Royal Mumble - roshabraham @ 7:37 pm

I am caught in a dilemma now. It is already past 12:01 AM, March 28, 2009 in India but here it’s only past 7:00 27th evening.
Should I celebrate my birthday now or should I wait 5hrs 30 mins more?

What’s there to celebrate anyways? My wife’s on a different continent altogether. :(

Mood: Sad and Grumpy

Happy B’day to me.

A Holi Evening in London

Filed under: My Life, Royal Mumble - roshabraham @ 7:47 pm

We celebrated Holi at work today. Thanks to two of my colleagues, Mr. A and Ms. P, who came up with the idea of playing with colours at office. Most of us were not expecting this, but I have to add that it was fun while it lasted. One more brilliant memory added to my Pensieve.

Flying high…

Arey mera gana to suno bhaiya… (Listen to my song, Bro!)

Miss P and Mr A.

Holi cheers..

Unimaginatively titled, Another snap

Wish you and your family a very happy Holi.

Cheers,
Rosh

The Promise

Filed under: My Life - roshabraham @ 11:08 am

My God is most merciful and wonderful. Whenever I am distressed or troubled, he finds a way to console me and boost my confidence. He asssures me that he will take care of me through all turbulent times.

In Isiah 41:11-13, this is what he promises.

"Yes, all shall be put to shame and disgrace who vent their anger against you; Those shall perish and come to nought who offer resistance.
You shall seek out, but shall not find, those who strive against you; They shall be as nothing at all who do battle with you.
For I am the LORD, your God, who grasp your right hand; It is I who say to you, "Fear not, I will help you."

GHOUGHPHTHEIGHTTEEAU

Filed under: My Life, Royal Mumble - roshabraham @ 7:51 pm

I have temporarily moved into a friend’s apartment for couple of weeks till I find a place of my own. The apartment is in East Croydon and its almost an hour’s travel from my office.

Today evening we left office at around 6:30 pm and being the peak hours the trains were jam packed.

While staring at the insides of the train, obviously because I had nothing else to do, I noticed this brilliant advertisement for the Spelling Bee competition to be held in England.

Here it goes:

If GH can stand for P in Hiccough
If OUGH can stand for O in Dough
If PHTH can stand for T in Phthesis
If EIGH can stand for A in Neighbour
If TTE can stand for T in Gazette
If EAU can stand for O in Plateau

Then the way you spell POTATO is GHOUGHPHTHEIGHTTEEAU
Isn’t it?

Cheers,

Adieu CityStay

Filed under: My Life, Useful Tips, Royal Mumble - roshabraham @ 12:09 am

CityStay is a comfortable, reasonably priced, small hotel located right next to Bow Church DLR station in London.

The address is 94, Bow Road, E33AA.

I have been staying with them for a week now. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I thought of adding a review for them on booking.com but alas, i do not have the booking pin with me. So I thought my blog had to have a mention of this lovely place and it wonderful hosts.

The pros:

  • The room is small yet tidy. Definitely value for money.
  • It has a good room heating that can be controlled via a thermostat. Each room has a tower fan too.
  • Each room has a LCD TV with Freeview and a DVD player of it’s own.
  • Wi-Fi is available for free for all the guests.
  • You have access to a full fledged kitchen. An additional cost of 3 GBP is charged for the usage of the kitchen stove for the entire day. Other utilities can be used for free.
  • Kitchen is stocked with fruits, eggs, milk, cheese slices, fruit juice, bread, crackers, cookies, cereals, cupcakes etc. which may be used without incurring any additional charges.
  • The lounge boasts of a huge LCD TV with a SKY connection.
  • Friendly staff. They are quite capable to keep you engaged in an entertaining conversation.
  • Bow Church DLR station is right next to the hotel. Bow Road Underground station is 5-8 minutes’ walk from the hotel. Bus stop is also adjacent to the hotel.

The cons:

  • No tea/coffee maker in the rooms.
  • Hotel is located directly opposite to a Police station. Loud police sirens are common during odd hours.
  • No proper breakfast is served. But, on request the staff is capable to ruffle up scrambled eggs/ omlette on toast.
  • No Sky TV in the room. I know I am being quite demanding now;)

Hope this helps you to decide if CityStay is the right place for you when you visit London.

Cheers,
Rosh

Assurance

Filed under: My Life - roshabraham @ 11:10 pm

For the first couple of days after I came to London, I was sad and depressed. Being away from Ninu is such a pain. Even more so, because I am having a tough time at work and when I come home I do not have anyone to talk to.

Then one evening I prayed to Lord Jesus and asked asked him to comfort me. Then I opened the Bible and opened a random page. There was my assurance.

Jeremiah 15:19-20 : If you turn back, I will take you back, and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall serve as my mouth. It is they who will turn to you, not you who will turn to them. And I will make you to this people a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you, for I am with you to save you and deliver you, says the Lord.

May the the Word of God bring hope and cheers to all our lives.

Cheers,
Rosh
